In the primeval forest of western Pennsylvania 250 years ago, the French and British empires clashed in a violent struggle for territory that spread throughout North America. Indian nations entered the war with their own interests at heart, desperate to keep control of the land for their own people. The French and Indian War raged for seven years, and during this bloody conflict an inexperienced Virginian soldier named George Washington, serving under the British flag, learned battle-scarred lessons that would indelibly shape his life.

The British ultimately won, but the fruits of their victory contained the seeds of the Revolutionary War. And a young hero emerged who would later lead that fight.

"The War That Made America" is narrated and hosted by Academy Award nominee Graham Greene whose ancestors fought in this war.
